The world’s leading brand of Wire Twister Tools and Kits, Milbar Wire Twisters are designed for the professional mechanic. Milbar forgings are made from high carbon alloy steel and are controlled throughout the manufacturing process to exacting engineering specifications. Each tool passes a series of rigorous quality assurance tests which ensure function and reliability under the most demanding environments. Milbar Wire Twisters come in three nominal sizes: 6", 9” and 12". Some models incorporate a Cushion Throat to catch clipped wire ends, preventing FOD (foreign object damage). The Spring Return feature automatically retracts the twist rod to ease and speed the work. Finally, Milbar Wire Twisters can produce right-hand twists (clockwise action), left-hand twists or both (reversible action).
Reversible action for left and right twists

Look in the tool box of any motorcycle roadracer, and you'll find a pair of safety wire pliers and usually it's a pair of the inexpensive kind because racing isn't cheap and what better place to save a few dollars than on a mission-critical tool that you'll use multiple times every race weekend? When I first started racing, I wrestled with a pair of el-cheapo pliers that slipped, refused to lock, or otherwise made me question how much money I had actually saved by buying the damn things. Fast forward 15 years and, while I'm not as fast as I was, I do have a significantly better budget and enough acquired wisdom to realize that nothing is more expensive than a cheap tool.Enter the Milbar pliers! While these cost about 7x as much as my first pair, they are easily 20x better. The knurling on the inside of the jaws is far superior, allowing the pliers to obtain a better bite on safety wire; having the things pop off in mid-twist is a thing of the past. The locking mechanism itself requires less effort and drops into place with a solid feel that clearly communicates that the mechanism is engaged. The cutting portion of the jaws is strong and sharp and always results in a quick, clean cut; my old pliers would "chew" the wire, usually necessitating several attempts to cut the wire. The shape of the outer jaws makes crimping and rolling sharp wire ends a breeze. The standout feature is the reverse mechanism - this is great for wiring consecutive sections across multiple bolts where a reverse twist is required or for quickly removing long sections of wire that is already twisted.Do yourself a favor. Spend the extra money, buy these pliers once, and never look back at the grief and pain that cheap pliers would have brought you. Or replace the el-cheapos with these and you'll dread wiring that new racebike a lot less than you were anticipating.
