With a little practice on some random pieces of wire, I got these connectors to make great watertight seals. Tip: strip about 1/4" from the ends of each wire. Join the wires together by pushing the straight strands into each other and twist them with your fingertips to intertwine them. Slide the solder band over the middle of the twisted strands. Use a heat gun (I used a mini heat gun with a deflector) to melt the solder and seal the ends of the sleeve. Be careful not to concentrate too much heat on any one section of the sleeve or you may burn the plastic. I kept the heat gun moving across the entire length of the sleeve as I sealed the ends and melted the solder. Give it time to completely cool before testing your connection. I spliced in a new tilt/trim switch on the engine cowl of my outboard motor and these connectors are great when you need a sure, watertight seal.I purchased these for low voltage electrical connections on a travel trailer. Used them for new taillights, markers, outside lighting and breakaway safety switch. Liked the idea of them being advertised as waterproof. Hoping this claim is accurate as these are obviously wet and dirty locations. Only time will tell but they seem to work well.Had to purchase a heat gun so that was an added expense but now I'm the proud owner of one of those.Found that you have to support the wires while the connection cools and you have to keep the heat gun at a specific distance and always moving in order to get the right amount of heat to melt the solder while not melting the plastic. It's a fine balance.Again, overall very satisfied with the product and hopeful it holds up.I was a bit skeptical at first but they said theirs was better than others. They were right! I had previously purchased the same type of item elsewhere for considerably more money and it took 16 days to get only to find they didn't work as advertised. These connectors work nicely. Solder melts at a lower heat so you don't end up melting everything.I recommend these over others!I’d never used these before so wasn’t sure what to expect. I replaced the amp and radio in my car and needed to solder and seal a bunch of wires. This seemed like a better solution than soldering and shrink wrapping the old way or using crimped mechanical connections.I’m glad I used these as trying to solder in the tight spaces of a car would have been harder. I also bought a heat gun to do this right. While I didn’t experiment with too many settings it felt like I had to use max heat/fan to get the solder to visibly melt. That just may be what it requires so I’m not saying it’s bad, just wasn’t sure what to expect. In any case the connections it made seem strong and sealed so I’m happy with the product. My only suggestion is the manufacturer find a way to make it more obvious when the solder has melted. With the wires and shiny plastic coating it isn’t easy to see the flowed solder. And since it’s pretty hot it’s hard to grab it and see. But with a decent heat gun and some patience these are very handy connectors that I’ll definitely use on other projects I would have broken out the soldering iron for.A pesar que aún no he usado el producto, parece que el mismo está de acuerdo a las especificaciones y las imágenes. It took some trial and error to get these to work. I thought that the metal ring in the middle was to crimp and then you heat to melt the plastic. Turns out you only use the heat gun with no crimping involved. Instructions could have been a little better but great product!Very easy to use. Creates a water tight seal.Si
