Worth every penny!No one (that I know of, at least) likes spending money unnecessarily. When I purchased our barrier fence unit, it came with the 'cheap' wire. When I needed more, I bought the next 'level' up, thinking that it would make my life easier and last longer (the wire... not my life - unfortunately!) Trouble is... while it was better, the medium grade of wire still caused me grief. It stretched easily, broke relatively easily and a couple of times a year I was having to spend hours tracing the 5 acres my above-ground pet barrier fence encompassed trying to figure out where the problem was. After having spent 4 hours this last time unsuccessfully trying to find the fault I decided to buy this 14 gauge heavy duty wire and replace the whole front section. I can tell you, though, while the wire was a bit more effort to install due to it's weight and stiffness, I am confident that I will no longer have any issues regarding visible or hidden breaks. This wire is solid and strong and I wish I had used this from the start - avoiding years of extra effort, replacement wire purchases and headaches. If you're going to install an electronic pet barrier 'fence' invest in the best wire you can - you won't regret it. The attached photo shows the black heavy duty versus the more flimsy, yellow covered wire.We wanted to run our Extreme Dog Fence along our existing pipe rail fence to keep our dogs away from it (jumping, digging, snarling) and off the driveway. I’m so glad I went with the thickest gauge available because it’s mostly above ground, zip-tied to our fence, and buried in the soil and under rocks in our yard. I would have liked even thicker, but we’ll see how well this holds up. The 20 gauge wire that came with the system sits in our garage unused. That would have failed within days I predict.Easy to installNot cheap but we are tired of fighting the cheap thin 18ga wire. We decided to upgrade to this heavier wire. So far so good.We recently moved and reinstalled our dog fence ....this time with high quality wire! This priced right kit contained everything we needed and very simple to install. I would buy this kit again but because of the quality doubt it will be anytime soon. Highly recommend.This is the second kit I ordered as I needed additional wire for my yard.I picked the kit as found the extra stakes, staples and wire connectors to be of good quality and difference in price for just wire was only $10 more.However, this 2nd kit was missing the 2 wire connectors that was supposed to be included, so I was disappointed as I needed them to complete the job properly.Otherwise would have given 5 Stars as wire is AWESOME QUALITY and looks very DurableThis wire has a solid core, not stranded. I bought this to finish wiring out a perimeter fence for an auto mower.
