I've been "old school" when it comes to making electrical connections. By that, I mean using twist on wire nuts. I've resisted these type connectors primarily because of the cost. A wire nut is far cheaper than these connectors and only takes a few seconds longer to connect, and seeing that I'm retired and my time is worth nothing :-) I was happy to use my familiar wire nuts. Friends have laughed at me, saying once I tried these, I'd never go back to wire nuts. Well...they were partially correct.I was forced to consider these because I needed to make a connection in an outlet box where the previous electrician had left the wires too short. Grrrr! These connectors solved my problem so in this instance, they were a life saver.I bought this particular brand for primarily three reasons. First, they are clear plastic so I can see that the wire is correctly installed...no wondering if its okay. Second, the cost is much less than the "name brand" and as near as I can tell, is every bit as good. Third, it came with a variety of connectors (two, three, four...up to eight wires) that will cover virtually every type of wire splice/connection that I can think of for typical residential use.So while I'm not ready to throw out the hundreds of wire nuts I have, I can see me using these more frequently in the future. They are so convenient and quick to use it is hard to argue against them.
